Monteroni d'Arbia

This is the area in Tuscany where we vacationed for two wonderful weeks! We stayed at San Fabiano Podernovo, a restored Tuscan Farmhouse. We explored the estate complete with a 15th century Castle and an 11th century Chapel. Truly amazing. A small vineyard on the estate produces 1,000 bottles of wine per year. We were able to sample some, too -- Bianco d'Arbia -- it was delicious. We spotted pheasants, and quail running through the wheat fields, and every morning we were awakened by the birds chirping, and the Tuscan sun streaming through our windows, and the aroma of fresh baked bread delivered every day to our door. San Fabiano is located in the little town of Monteroni d'Arbia, a 500 mitre walk from our Villa, "Il Vino", a very large 3-room apartment. We shopped at the local COOP, dined at the neighborhood restaurant, Gianelli's, attended mass at the village church, and soaked up the local culture. It was absolutely delightful! I would love to go back there some day.
