The
nice part of living in a small town is that when Havre de Grace, MarylandApril 2002 I just added some photos and links. I haven't had much time to spend on this site lately. I've been really busy in Florida. The weather has been beautiful and most of the snowbirds have left town. We had two Sand Hill Cranes mate and nest in our back yard. Some critter got to the egg though....probably a raccoon. One morning I watched a manatee swim around in the canal out back and munch on the grasses along the banks. It's days like these that make me love Florida! I took a few photos -- check them out. If you want to add a Havre de Grace Web Site, send me the link via e-mail. February 2002 Brrrr.....I've been freezing my fanny off since December! It's about time for a trip to Florida for some warmth and sunshine. My design business is starting to take off, and I have several new clients to meet with when I get down there. I haven't done a damned thing to rustle up business here....but, when I return, I plan to do some aggressive promotion. I put all "real" work aside and instead have been concentrating on my collection of short stories, Tillie's Chillies...or Memoirs from the Lunatic Fringe, which Shela has so aptly named my collection. Maria and I have been having our usual fun, hanging out together, working the store and making plans for the Spring. We're really looking forward to planting the vegetable garden and the flower garden. (We had a beautiful cutting garden last summer and we gave away so many bouquets to friends and family. More importantly, we faithfully brought flowers to the graveyard every week ;-) We also plan to do some work in and around the house when the weather permits. I've also been spending time with a few of my high school buddies, great old family friends, and last but not least, enjoying some intimate moments with a special fella. There are also plans in the works to take Mom on a birthday cruise in July. Shela and I are hoping that Brenda and Paula, Maria, and Kathy and Aunt Helen will come with us. (I'm happy to report that Aunt Helen is recovering from her recent 5-way bypass.) I'm not having much luck convincing Maria to come with us on this cruise, though. God forbid she had to close the store for a few days! :-D LOL She's gonna be just like Aunt Tillie when it comes to closing this store for any reason whatsoever. She is also afraid of being out in the middle of the ocean, but I haven't given up on her yet! I can be very persuasive when I put my mind to it. We've had a thief in the store. He ripped Maria off for close to a grand. She's pressed charges but we all know that the justice system isn't always just. So we'll have to wait and see if he gets any jail time. Whew! I've got a lot of irons in the fire right now! Life is good! Summer, 2001 I spent quite a bit of time with my cousin, Maria, in Havre de Grace this summer. Once again, we shared a lot of love and a lot of laughter on the corner of Juniata and Erie, that little part of the universe where we grew up. We found out we are still as mischievous as we were as children. No matter how much our lives have changed, some things will always remain the same. For me, there is a lot of comfort in that. When time permits, I'll be writing some stories about my adventures and the many crazy characters who frequent Tillie's Chillies on Juniata Street. They certainly were a constant source of entertainment for us, and we had a lot of laughs on that front porch this summer. There's a link below of a funny radio broadcast (from notmuch.com) which talks about HdG and it's "claim to fame" as the Decoy Capital of the World among other things. Tune in and listen to the caller who phones in. You'll need Real Player to listen in on the broadcast, though. You can download it free from here. As you can
see, my Web site is always under creation. Check back for interesting
and amusing tidbits I uncover. |
